Question for you guys and gals,

I'm finishing up my FF install in my P13. I've got a Cabelas 12v sealed battery. Do they have to be mounted vertically, or can I just toss into a dry bag and lay it on the bottom of the hull (velcrowed to hold it in place)?

Thanks!

Rich

No it doesn't have to be mounted vertically.

I have one of those gigantar batteries. I put it on its side in a locknlock box with a wire seal. the locknlock box went inside a fanny back that is strapped around the scupper holes. still going strong...

mines on it side as well, works fine.  I have it in a plastic container, which goes into a drybag velcroed onto the hull

Thanks for the advice everyone. I ended up mounting it upright just ahead of the hatch in the front of my P13. I used a foam block, cut out the shape of the rubbermaid plastic box the battery sits in, put an extra slim sheet of the foam on the bottom of the cutout, gooped it all in and its done. I also leveled the boat and the foam block before gooping so its all balanced. Then I gooped wire clips high on the sides of the hull and hung the transducer wires and battery wires out of the way.

Now if I could just finish the bathroom remodel, I'll have time to fish. (Note to self)
Never gut a room to subfloor and studs, just paint over all the pink tiles, reglaze the sinks and tubs, and leave the old two handle shower control..... And don't add recessed lighting ,exhaust fans with heater, oh yeah, theres nothing wrong with the gold linoleum. Have you guys ever laid 16" ceramic tile on the diagonal. Friggin party!!! :smt009

Its beautiful though.....

I actually did that at my old house, there was no way to get a new tub in without taking out a wall.  So hired some company, Miracle Method? or something like that.  They cover up both the pink tile and pitted tub and it worked well for many years.  Just had to be sure and not drop anything hard.

Looks like Cabela's has a battery & charger for $29.99, which ain't bad but I gotta shop around...

I have Autocad on my computer, it works wonders for layout of just about anything. I have used it several times for tile work.I am able to estimate exact number of tiles, cuts, usage of scraps, and start an finish dimensions, etc. :smt010 god I love that program!

I feel you I'm in the same boat as you I have 3 bathrooms I'm redoing :smt075 ...well one at a time.I guess thats what I get for buying an older house, they are all a full gut  w/subfloor repair, plumbing ,studs, sheetrock etc.

Sounds like we are working on the same house. Mine was built in 1963, all the walls are plaster over button board, no sheet rock. And yep, I have 3 bathrooms, already did the guest suite's bathroom, now I'm in the middle of the main bathroom, then it's on to the master bedroom bath.

Projects never end, but after this bathroom is done, I'm takinga haitus and doing some fishing....
