Saturday morning May 2, 2009

Arrived at MBK at 05:00Hrs. With the newbee A.K.A (Bear). It was a little chilly at that time and I was feeling lethargic and did not feel like suiting up. But Bear on the other hand was ready to go for his first beach launch on a kayak, with the mini waves slapping at are ankles and a quick safety briefing we were off to the yellow buoy #7.
There we dropped are lines and not a minute goes by  Bear gets a hook up yells at me and say I got something red, my first thought was a Vermilion, but turns out to be a nice size Octopus that shot him with a stream of water and slithered off back into the deep before i could get a photo.

A few minuets latter we were joined by a couple of yaker known as  Hoppy and...sorry i forgot the others name but he was a local and was paddling a angler prowler 13. We fished the Buoy for another twenty minuets and decided to go out for some sanddabs. In the process of headding out the two other yakers made there headding, what looked like to me towards Cannery Row, while we went straight out to 180ft water. I wonder if they did any good? As for me and Bear we hooked up on the
Dabs and later when we drifted back near the yellow buoy we got some small rockcodes before the wind pick up around 14:00Hrs.

Fishing was slow but had a great time. I believe Bear had a blast and now hooked on kayak fishing. Here's some  visual of Bear!~

Gotta love that MBK glass and easy launch, even when it's 4-5ft dumpers just around the peninsula.Glad to see you back on the water Alex. We'll have to hook up for some sessions soon. :smt006

Alex -

Still remember when you took me on my first saltwater adventure at MBK. Those were good times. See you out there.
