Thanks Randall, I thought it looked like a coho.  I'm so not clued in to the whole inland lake salmon plantings.  There was a lot of that in Washington.  Sweet pics of all those browns!!!

Nice footballs and report.

Used to catch Browns from Almanor that had pink/orange flesh and were delicious.

The smallies were not biting yet?

Thanks for your comments.  I really enjoyed the venue and the fishing, while a bit sparse (given the time spent paddling) was ample to keep us in fresh fish for dinners.  I kept thinking that Scott would have been a lot more successful with his great experience and skill trolling for trout.

It would have been a lot nicer if the weather had cooperated, the near constant wind and chop detracted from the experience.  It was a new experience for me to fish where the wind was so unpredictable.  It could come up suddenly and change direction 180 degrees at any time.  I realized if you paddled upwind, you couldn't count on having the wind at your back on the return. There was really only about about a two hour period just at sundown on the last day fishing that I got to paddling in calm, smooth water and that was a real joy.

You didn't fish at Bucks ?

No, that was a day for doing something with my wife.  She didn't fish except the day on Bryan's boat; it was cold and wet much of the time pinning her in the pop-top trailer.  And almost none of the seasonal RV residents were up yet, so she was deprived of socializing.  I knew if I wanted to return to Almanor, I'd better spend some time doing something other than fishing.  She enjoys touring the area, visiting the towns/shops and really wants to stay at Eagle Lake soon.

I'm deprived of the Shelter Cove trip because I had locked in coverage for another doctor during that time.  So I rearranged my schedule to try Almanor because a number of my patients have raved about the browns there every time I see them and I wanted to get up there before all the water skiers arrive in late May.  I just canceled my two, week-long reservations at Fish Camp (Anchor Bay) so that I can reserve some additional time at Almanor later in the year.

I didn't hook any, but I was really targetting browns and probably trolling farther off shore than where most bass were nesting.  There was a bass tourney going on during my last fishing day and there were about 45 people entered.  So that day I saw a lot of bass boats buzz in and out, plugging the shoreline.
