Hey, my name is christopher and I'm a long time avid reader of this forum but have never posted as I'm stuck in SLC, UT. I grew up free diving in FLA and the Bahamas and have always done my spearfishing with a sling. I, however, was just invited on a two week trip up the sea of cortez and was given a new Sporasub carbon instinct 100cm gun with two spears. The owner bought it but never used it and doesn't know how to rig it. Neither do I.  I'm obviously an idiot, but cannot for the life of me figure out how to rig the line on the attached reel to the spears. There is a hole at the base of the spear shaft but the margins on the tracks for the spear on the gun are so small that any line attached to the base of the spear would hang up on the guides (or so it would appear).  If anyone can guide me on the proper rigging, I would be forever indebted and promise to post lots of pics on my return. i have a great underwater camera and an accomplished free dive partner and should be able to produce some good shots.  Thanks for any and all help. -ccc

Sorry I don't own this model spear gun.  Did some research and it looks like a nice one.  The link below shows some pictures of the mechanism but to small to see how the line attached to the spear shaft.

But I'm sure someone on this board can help you out.  Hang in there...

If you are unable to get an answer here you could try spearboard.com I know a few of the guys can help out try the speargun section of the foram.  I am not sure but this may be one where the line loop is large and it passes through the muzzle after the shaft has left.

euroguns are pretty easy to rig, are you using some kind of line or are you using monofilament. i recomment monofilament. the small holes at the top of the shaft by the wishbone slots (for loading) are the holes you connect your line through. when rigging make sure the line closest to the shaft goes under the bands and remember this when you load the gun or it will foul upon shooting.

#1 - install the line to the shaft (using crimps and monofilament , even weedwhacker line is ok , appx 350lb test strength) load shaft in gun through the muzzle and through the bands

#2 - guide the line out towards the tip of the gun, through the muzzle in the same hole as the shaft and then down around back towards # 3 (line drop hook) then back out towards #4.

#4 - is the line anchor / bungee. you should put some kind of bungee here and secure the line with crimps or a good knot if using material line.

line should be on the gun snug but not tight, no need to break the line drop hook!

use a float line with the gun and you are all set. its pretty basic of a setup but works well. shoot some fish and eat.

good luck.

Thanks all. Super helpful. Think I finally might figure this thing out. Will be back from free diving and hopefully a little killing on the 1st of June. Will post pics to share.  Again, thanks a ton. -ccc
