Wasn't sure where to post this but I have to go down to So Cal & might drive down & take the kayak along but I have very little knowledge of So Cal.
Any advice on good places to launch on the ocean and/or sites to post or find other yak fishers down there? Easy to moderate launches - open to possibilities anywhere from about Newport Beach north...

thanks

I've fished outta Ventura Harbor a few times and had a couple of fish. Piece of cake launch. Ping Ariel he's got the scoop. I've been told 20 min north or south of ventura has some nice kelp lines. You can also hit the oil islands.

Aaron,
I used to live in Ventura.  The fishing was alway great for Calico and Sand Bass.  It was before my kayak days but we used go out on twilight trips from Port Hueneme, just south of Ventura.  We would leave around 5:30 PM and be back by 7 or 8 with limits every time.  Fly lining anchovies was the best set-up but scampi worked well too.  We never fished very far from shore.  I would think it would be doable in a yak.

Thanks for the feedback - this time I did end up getting a CHEAP flight down there on JetBlue so I'm flying, but I would still like to do a road trip south some time. Pipe up if anyone's interested.

Too late  - I just got back!  :smt003
Flew down & wouldn't have had enough time to get on the water, anyway.
I wanna go back down there & check it out some time, though...when I save up some shekels...

Hi Yakers:

My last trip was a blast! Too bad a Seal took my Yellow Tail! :smt044 I would hookup with my so_cal fishing Buddy Fishionado . My Last
trip Dave hooked up with a 40Lb. WSB which was on the front cover of WON!
I'm planning a trip to my home town in the Summer.

P.S. You should be at La Jolla around 4:00 Am to make Bait at Scripts
Pier.
