Thought it would be nice to paddle to work today in honor of Earth Day. But since we don't have an office on a waterway, had to go with Plan B - carbon neutral, zero emission, renewable resource entertainment at the wall! The fish responded with an all natural skunk.. for me anyway.

Somehow managed to hit the snooze button for over an hour (get off my back - it's a holiday!). I was rewarded with 2 1/2 hours of freeway pain all the way to Alameda. (sidebar: to all those who have to commute to work, I salute your patience :salut:. You're better people than I. By the third accident, I was fuming to myself, "there better be bodies." I apparently won't be needing a jacket for my trip to the afterlife.) All is well once I hit the water at 9:30.

The Huck Finn was working north to south off in the distance, but quickly moved to the other side of the bay. Maybe since I haven't enjoyed the seas since last November, I was very mindful of a fair amount of wind chop on the water today. I didn't have a fishing buddy, and I was a bit of a pu... er, kitten. I never fish well when that happens. Decided to troll some herring in the area south to Ballena Bay. After some 2 hours of trolling, a friendly shore angler whistles me over to the end of the rock jetty by the marina entrance, and asks for my NorCal credentials. Lo and behold, it's none other than Duane of the insane variety. The master proudly displayed a beautiful 'but (sorry about the photo quality, but I promise the brown fuzzy at Duane's side was a really nice fish) and provided some sage advise. When the master speaks, you listen. Sadly, it wasn't meant to be for this grasshopper today. I was forced to console myself by trolling in tight to the beach -- hello, Fraulein sunbathers! Sorry, no fuzzy pictures. Wasn't a bad day after all.

I've read Duane's account of this, and, pictures taken into account, I'd say your's is better.  Well done!   :smt003
