I tried a brand new spot this afternoon with jim/ redyak. Myself , Linelle, my grandaughter Amaya and my son-in law. We all piled in to the car and headed to Omars beach just north of portuguese. All the talk of premium viz up north made me think that we might get at least ten ft. Not. 3 -4 ft tops. I scoured the area for an hour and found one abalone. Picked some mussles for an appetizer tommorrow. Great weather and a flat ocean just no viz and not my new secret spot by any means. Craig. Batt, we will hook up this year.

Nice ab...bummer about the viz. I get the feeling the viz sucks for the most part south of Ft. Ross.
May the fish be mighty and the seas be meek...

Beautiful Ab Craig. Once I get back in the swing of things we gotta dive together but it might be difficult to pry me away from the higher vis spots for now.

Hey craig. i went diving at horshoe cove on monday. it was my first time diving there. its a beautiful spot. i would have pm you before but it was a last minute deal we got some nines straight out from the trailbase past the big rock in about 25-30'ft of water. i am always surprised how much deeper i can dive in great visibility. i never dive south of ft.ross because the visibility almost always sucks down there. furthermore, the closer you get to the river the more disease-shell nasty abs there are. on the other hand the commute sure is a lot sweeter down there.

Jack, I am stoked thatyou went to Horseshoe. It is an amazing place. The ab I got last night was indeed very worm ridden. To compensate for the holes the ab built its shell thickness to an amazing size. The interior of the shell was one of the most irregular I have ever seen. Blister pearls everywhere. If the conditions hold thru the weekend I will be in the water not on it for sure.Pm meif you are going up. Cool.

Good job on scouting for new spot.  Thanks for the report and beautiful pictures of the Ab shell.
