Drifted from Colusa to Ward's, (approx. 5 miles), on sunday with wdwrkr (Craig). No fish, pretty quiet.
Monday we checked out conditions downstream. Went as far as Knight's Landing where we drifted downstream for a bit before pulling the plug. It was busier here but the boaters had nothing much to report. For the remainder of the day we soaked bait near Ward's in a deep hole. Again, nothing.
This morning, the guys at the Colusa baitshop were wondering where the fish were. I guess flows dropped too. They say that holds fish lower in the river.
We left Colusa this morning for a day at Clear lake where it was a little warm. The fishing was okay but not the prespawn bite I was hoping for. Frogs and senkos accounted for everything here.
On the way home I saw that the north ramp at Mendo is closed.
I'm lucky to not have been carried away in the night by the mosquitos at Colusa. They were intense!
Also, the Colusa launch is iffy, day by day, depending on the river level.
If you don't know where you're headed, any road could get you there.

Only been to the Colusa launch area once, after that nite (25 yrs ago), I find killing mosquitos almost as enjoyable as sex, and I like sex.....maybe TMI, but the mosquitos there are almost beyond belief..

Damn Juan, I was thinking about you guys for the last couple of days and wondering when you were going to post that huge bass. You gave it all. There is a tournament this coming weekend at Wards. I will bet there will be 300 boats zooming up and down the river trying to find the stripers. Not good for kayaking. Thanks for the report.

You are putting in the miles to get to the spots, then puttin in the OTW miles, hunting them down. You guys are doing it the proper way and the ONLY way to approach it!.....thanks for the lastest from your neck of the land.
....I saw a sign that said"Knights Landing" on our Trinity run.....its far up there :smt009
