Well I treated myself for maying it halfway through my MBA program and bought a used power wrapper & about 100 spools of thread & hundreds of eyes off someone getting out of wrapping.  Incredibly killer deal on Craigs list (Flex Coat OEM for $160!!!!)  Taking it to the next level

Just ordered a used copy of Clemens "Advanced Custom Rod Building"

I have a great source for supplies & am looking to take it to the next level.  I know some of you others out there wrap, some professionally.  any good resources for the decorative wraps?  weaving?  etc?

I second Rodbuilding.org as an outstanding resource.

Also, I love Rodmaker Magazine... outstanding resource especially for a newbie.

Custom Thread Art by Dale Clemen's is hard to beat for decorative wrapping.

Rodbuilding Guide by Tom Kirkman is excellent... sort of a more modern and up to date version of the Clemens book that you ordered... reflects some modern techniques and technology that didn't exist when Clemens wrote his book.

Billy Vivona has a new book called "Decorative Wraps" that is supposed to be excellent though I've not seen it myself.

A bunch of guys have instructional videos out now as well, but I like books better personally.

Personally, I learned by studying both Clemens books above, using info at Rodbuilding.org and Rodmaker Magazine, and putting in my dues with LOTS of time and trial and error.

Welcome to the (rodbuilding) madness.

Thanks.  I've been doing it for about 25 years but just finally bit the bullet on the power wrapper.  Everything I've done in th epast has been hand turning.  Just could not pass up 160 on a machine that retails for 450 new.
