*Subject:* Please Read! Save Your Brass       He may not take your guns but Barack Hussein Obama isgoing to try andmake sure you won't have any ammo for them!!!!!This item, along with the attempt to stop importation ofammo fromoverseas is just the start. Barack O bama is on track to eliminate shooting hobbies, even if itbreaks the Country. Thanks to all of you who voted forhim. Sooner orlater he'll get around to something that affects YOU. This is breaking news.... Georgia Arms is the 5th largest retailer of .223 Ammo inAmerica . (Theysell 9 mm, .45, etc) They normally buy spent brass from the US Dept ofDefense - 'one timeus ed' shell casings by our Military - from training onMilitary bases, etc. They buy the brass and then re-load for resale to FireInvestigation Agencies, Law Enforcement, Gun Shops, GunClubs, etc. They normally buy 30,000 lbs of spent brass at a time. This week the DoD wrote a letter to the owner of GeorgiaArms and saidthat from now on the DoD will be destroying the brass -shredding it.It is no longer available to the Ammo makers - unlessthey just buy itin a scrap condition (which they have no use for).   The brass is NOW going to be sold by the DoD to China asscrap, for lessmoney than ammo manufacturers have been paying for theempty brassshells. That sure helps the US economy now, doesn't it?Sell cheaperto China - and do not sell shells at all to a proven USbusiness. Any Anti-2nd amendment agenda working here? The Georgia Arms owner even related a story that one ofhis competitorshad already purchased a load of brass last week- and the DoD contacted him this week and said they weresending someoneover to make sure it was destroyed. Shell Casings he had alreadybought! THE BRASS HAS NO VALUE TO THE AMMO MAKER IF IT ISDESTROYED/SHREDDED/MELTED. HE ONLY USES IT TO RELOADDIFFERENT CALIBERS- MAINLY .223 BULLETS. Georgia Arms owner says that he will have to lay off atleast half ofhis 60 workers, within 2 - 3 months if the DoD no longersells theirspent brass to him. He has 2 - 3 months inventory ofshells to use. Bysummer - he's out. You can read the info and see the DoD letter to GeorgiaArms here at theShootist Web site: http://www.theshootist.net/ Georgia Arms Site: http://Georgia-arms.com/<http://georgia-arms.com/>

"Dear Loyal Customers,
Thanks to your voice, DOD has rescinded the order to mutilate all spent cases as of 4:30 pm on 3/17/09. We appreciate the time and effort that you expended, together we all made a difference. We will be posting the email we received from DOD as well as any additional information within the next 12-16 hours. Thanks so much and lets get to work!!! Georgia Arms"

Ya know, in 8 years I bet I wouldn't even need my toes to count the number of times I heard, "George Walker Bush".  :?:

You are welcome!

glad this issue was resolved but it still does beg the question, why did they try it in the first place?  What possible explanation could there be?

I was wondering  the same thing.

All that I've found that could be a hint is that lifting the ban only applies to brass sold for domestic use. So if I *had* to guess, maybe it had something to do with the problems in Mexico which seem to have everyone's attention right now????

As you know.....anti-gun people ARE attempting to require registered ammunition sales coupled with "coded" bullets....so that a bullet can be traced back to the ammunition purchase.

The moment they GET such legislation, they will ask that civilian
"handloading" of ammunition be prohibited.   And coupled legislation
will make it illegal to sell or possess ammunition components and/or
"handloading gear" including presses, dies, powder.

It's just a certainty.

I'm a life-member of the NRA.
You need to be, also.

I don't find things to be all that black and white. I'm not "anti-gun", I own a couple and shoot pretty much weekly.

I'm glad the NRA keeps the debate open, but I'm not a big fan. I think they are even more politically driven than the "anti-gun" folks, so the conversation just gets too muddled.

The only really strong opinion I have about gun ownership is that if you are going to have and use guns you should get some safety training. And if your kid kills himself, or someone else, because you didn't store it properly, you should go to jail.

:smt005 No worries, you at least brought the whole thing to our attention.  I for one am glad for that. Plus it could have been worse...you could have POSTED IT ALL IN CAPS!  :smt005

that's why we ousted the idiot... too much stupid.  Pendulum may have swung pretty far, but i'm definitely willing to give B Hussein Obama at LEAT 4 years to try to bring the broader gov'ment pendulum back to align with all those votes.

Remember there is no such thing as a dumb question ! It is good to bring these things to our attention real or not so that we may question it  and investagate . Too many things going on behind our backs and no time to find it all trying to make a living and take care of our families

The prez is not gun friendly, and I am sure you have heard that he wants to impose a 500% tax on firearms and ammunition. Stay informed if you value your second amendment rights.

Stay informed if you value your second amendment rights

I read the NRA fact sheet and, since footnote #2 was used a couple times, I followed it to politico.com which referred to a PDF of an unsigned candidate questionnaire. Who is responsible for it's verification? It might be the real thing. Equally, it may not.

As soon as FACT is in caps and bold my bs detectors go on high. I didn't have time to run down the whole list, but I'm suspicious of it. The problem with the NRA, as well as organizations that might include PETA, is that they get big enough that they have to keep people stirred up to assure their existence. So telling people they are about to have their guns taken away, or that chickens are suffering, keeps them in business. For sure, there are groups that would rather we had European style guns laws, and I have seen for myself instances where chickens lead miserable lives (I've also seen commercial instances of the opposite), but there is far too much hype disguising 'assertion' as 'fact'.

Like Brian said, staying informed is tough to do while keeping all the other balls in the air. I don't think we can rely on groups with vested interests (NRA, PETA,...) or entertainers (O'riley, Stewart, Hannity) to do anything more than raise the question. If you truly want to stay informed you have to dig deeper, at minimum to a source that will stand behind it's assertions with actual information from real, confirmable sources, otherwise you never know when someone, or some group, is playing you. Sadly, you can't be 100% sure even then.

Just my very humble opinion.
