My surf/fish bud Leo and I stopped by to meet the famed alan tani.

It was a blast!

Alan informed me that my used abu C3 was really an abu C1 cause of the 2 frozen bearings that work quite well as bushings! . Whew, now I don't have to worry about screwing up those bearings, they are already hosed! And now the drag is killer. perfect!

Leo got the drag upgraded on a coffee grinder I lent him and with which he has been pulling up lings including the 32-incher from the other week, and I got the backup version of that reel upgraded too. Just cause a reel is a clunky AX doesn't mean it doesn't deserve the best in drags!

But alan's narrow spool jigmaster does look good...

Marque was real helpful and his store is full of good things for the local fisheries.  good prices too.   It's a definite .
