I have checked and rechecked all the wire connections. I hope I get the unit back soon. Thanks for the thoughts though. Craig

I've killed my share of Humminbirds.  Splash and surf launches are rough on any FF.

Here are two tips that I have discovered the hard way and have kept FF's alive:

1) Use lots of dielectric silcone grease on all plugs and battery terminals.

2) Don't hose off your FF.  Water pressure will introduce water into the unit.  Just take a damp rag and carefully wipe off any salt residue and sand.

Is anybody local to Petaluma have a 500 series Humminbird I could hook the unit to before I ship it off.

I know your unit is on its way to Eufala, but you can test connections with any 3xx,5xx or 7xx series Humminbird FF. They all share the same mount/connections. Heck, my 383 with an internal GPS will happily live on a mount set up for a 787 with external GPS.

The Humminbird people are great to deal with. Expect your system back right quick.

Regards,
Scott

Well I know its the unit. I am getting 12.86 volts with a fully charged battery at the connection where the FFer mounts. Now for the waiting game. :smt010
