Met up with Marmite and Scott at around 7AM and launched at MBK.The water was flat calm, cold and clear. The wind stayed down until noon, when a 10 kt offshore breeze picked up.Fished 180-200+ ft for best results. We all scored as many dabs as we wanted, I ended up with 22 hand-sized dabs and released several dink.We even had a surprise visit from two whales that swam past us and slapped their side flippers! Wife and I made tempura dabs for dinner. They were the BOMB! Good friends, good fishing, cool wildlife, and good eats. :smt003

Was a fun time, meeting up with Aaron and his friend Scott.  Enjoyed getting out on the ocean and giving my arms a workout as they have gotten a bit out of condition.

Made a nice meal from my 24 dabs.

love them dabs!  I usually just pan saute but your tempura sounds great.  Just pan dressed?

The dabs were flash cooked in a wok with vegetable oil. Then dried on paper towel before serving with steamed rice and vegetables along with my wife's amazing tempura sauce.Perch, sole, starry flounder and rf are great served this way too.

Sorry I missed out! I love the end results of the sanddabs. I just might have to cheat and make a run to "Mitsua" and have some tempura.

Good Catch !
