Anyone here ever fished it? I'll be in Grass Valley for the weekend and just might have a few hours to fish. Any tackle tips would be great.

My Sister used to live in Colfax and I fished it a few times it's a narrow lake with a lot of fast boats so watch out. All the bass I caught out of there have been dinks and the best trout fishing I found was up were the Bear flows in paddle up and drift back with the current with mini crawlers or small jigs and grubs or trolling the same section with small Krocs or Rapalas. Healthy bows 14/18" and browns to 20"
If you get out of the boat watch the flows they can go up fast swept my dog away one time he was OK just a little freaked and he was a pretty strong swimmer. The fish really turn on when the flows increase. Some excellent small stream fishing above the lake but again watch the flows. I thinks Scott's Flat is the Better Option.

Scott's Flat is certainly not wake-free. In fact, boat traffic there scared the poop out of my wife. But the weather's been crummy enough that there may not be many boats on either lake. At least the weekend is supposed to have some sun.

There are some nice browns in there Troll the Cascade shore side in 10/15' OW Rapalas and Raps you will pick up some smallies also if it warms up a little, very early and late for the Browns. I think you take Red Dog Rd bummer though dogs are not allowed to swim there.

Scotts I can't take my dog there because if he is near water he will find a way to get in.

I have fished both Scotts and Rollins.  I prefer Scotts.  There are too many PBs on Rollins and the bite has never been phenomenal.
