I hope we get a few more stretches of fishable water before winter sets in...I need to stock up for the coming months.
May the fish be mighty and the seas be meek...

I hope we get a few more swells before summer ends! This has been the worst south swell season in years!!!! In fact,, the last real south swell came back around Mother's Day.....this weekend is south #2 for the season.

I'm going to be carrying out my own little 'scorched earth' policy with my speargun this winter.   :smt074
The legend lives on from the Chippewa on down
Of the big lake they call Gitche Gumee
Superior, they said, never gives up her dead
When the gales of November come early.

well this south swell is cranking today.  I surfed 3 mile reef for 2 hours this morning. One set of about 8 waves came in and broke in the triple overhead range (~18 foot face). Most were in the 6-12 foot range. There were lots of lulls.

Note the pt reyes spectrum has 3.1 feet every 18 seconds from 191 this morning. Nothing has broken 2 feet since the mother's day swell. The long period is the key. Speed and power are proportional to wavelength.

If you go out saturday on a south facing spot, beware, we are not talking a slow 2 foot high wave in the chest, we are talking flip you hard, break all your rods, possibly worse.

Out on the water tho, it is just smooth rollers. A party boat was working both the reef out there and the sandy halibut stretches.
