Wdwrkr and I are planning a trip to the Sac for the sturgeon bite going on there. This trip will be centered around tuesday. I'm hearing of many oversized fish! River time/experience a must, it's flowing at 8000 cfs right now. Imagine an oversized in that flow!
Still tentative, plans firm up tomorrow.

Be ready for a long haul back to the launch should you hook up with a giant. Have a plan of places you can take your kayak out down river with car access.
Could you imagine having to paddle or pedal two or more miles against 8000 cfs?
Good luck and be safe.

We plan on fishing above the put-in, so going downstream for whatever reason is at least in the right direction. As for paddling against the current, I fish there every year and there are always soft edges and eddies where the going is easier. I've paddled at least 2 miles above the put-in, surprised me! It's still a workout, I'm not saying it's always easy, so eat some spinach!
The flows might be a tad high, we're sniffing it out and fishing somehow, somewhere.

Hi all,
1st time posting. The sturgeon are in the Knights Landing area and north. Been getting reports from friends fishing up there. Most reports from shore, 2 from boats, not yaks. Most fish have been in the 5 foot range with a couple of 7's. I've been putting in several nights and a couple weekends, and personally have not seen fish. Ghost shrimp and eel seem to be the best. Most times together. I'll be some where between 7 miles north of Knights landing to 2-3 miles south of Meridian. Water was dropping, but not sure where it is now. It's about 8-10 lower than a couple weeks ago. If your out over the weekend in that area I'm in a grey Toy 4x4. I will be with a red white Suburban. Stop by and I'll supply the water or Pepsi. Also, stripers starting to show good in the Verona area. Been trying to find time to get my new (used) yaks to the water. Only been in my pond so far. A little afraid of sturgeon in the river though. Good hunting to all. Rob

Hitting Colusa this afternoon, hopefuly camp there tonight and then decide where to fish tomorrow. Thinking of Grimes or Knight's Landing.
