Checked out the fishing reports:

"On Wednesday 3-18 Mike at Mike's Bait in Oakland reported large stripers have been taken off the San Pablo Bay shoreline from Point Pinole to Rodeo with bullheads. He weighed in a 27-pound female which died on a bullhead this afternoon, but he said the fishermen lost a much larger fish in the same area. Numbers of schoolie stripers are hitting pile worms, and he is having a hard time meeting the demand for pile worms. The majority of action has been on the outgoing tide. There was a limit of stripers to 10-pounds taken on 1 oz. hair raisers under the Fruitvale Bridge.

Wednesday 3-11 Mike at Mike's Bait in Oakland said the stripers have roared into the bay with schoolies from 5 to 7-pounds hitting pile worms along the shoreline from Point Pinole south to the Oakland shoreline. One angler kept a limit of 30-pound stripers from the Hegenberger Road access on broken backed Rebels. Mike said they are selling dozens of pile worms and loads of hair raisers and Rebels. "

:smt006I get out of work at 3 on Friday, I will pick up some bait from Mikes as it is near work, then try my luck somewhere between Oakland and the Dumbarton Bridge.  I have not heard much about the sturgeon bite off of herring so I am not sure if Dumbarton will be good for Dino's yet.  It seems like there will be a decent shot at some stipers though.  I will throw some lures when I get bored fishing bait or if conditions look right the bait may just stay in the cooler.

I would love to bring out the yak, but my ride is not set up for it yet(I borrow trucks/SUV's when I go out :smt013) and I am planning on trying Del Valle Saturday and meet up with a bunch of the peeps from NCKA then (I want my yak clean).  Watch out for those inspectors :smt004

Anyone interested?

Well, didn't have any luck on Friday.  Fished from 3:30ish til 5:30.  Tide was really low and I forgot my thread to wrap the shad I was using for bait.  Tossed a few different lures for a while.  Talked to an older guy who says he fishes the area often.  He said that stripers are pretty common when the tide is higher and the wind dies down.  He said lures that swim just under the surface are the ticket.  I may give this a try again soon and let everyone know how it turns out.
