Hey Matt, they are not my own. I spent some serious ducketts getting them across the pond (shipping is killer). I've also got another mold coming from the UK that I cant wait to get. I am probably going to just electroplate them.

Here is a pic of a salmon lure I made using abalone and semi precious stones and crystal beads. I have bunches of different size blades and even made a kastmaster out of ab.

Do you pour your own plastic too? If so, my favorite down at the cove is white with a red tail. Firetail I think it is called. Works very well IMHO. I have dreamed of making a plastic mold for a giant curly tail grub big enough to scare a med size ling.

We will definitely have to do some trading, those spire heads look tasty!  Would be great for farming up a big ling or cab.
If you're not living on the edge - you're taking up too much space!

Very nice Domenic, I love those ab shell spinners.  I have played with the shell a few times, but always break it.

I like looking at the Europe cod fishing sites.  Some of their lures are so unique compared to the States.  I will be really intrested in seeing how yours work and what your new one looks like. I was eyeballing some of their Pirk molds.  I like the shape of that one.

I am doing plastics, but just the standard 4-7" swimbaits and some 6" curly tails and scampies.  I got some white, shad and black grape coloring on order.  I may have to try the red tails, I have not done too many multicolored lures yet.

A plastic lingasaurus grub would be really fun to make.  I have been thinking of making something similar to a giant brush hog:

Lots of arms and legs on a nice size plastic.  I love the brush hogs for largemouths, they have a lot of movement and mass to them.  I bet they would kill lings and cabs, but they don't come large enough.  I would love to make a nice sanddab mold and maybe something that looks like a blue rockfish.  I read that lings love to eat the blues.  I bet an octopus shaped bait would make a nice lure too.  The plastics are fun as the molds are much easier to make and alter.  The lead tends to break down the plaster molds pretty quickly.  Lurecrafters makes a nice bluegill plastic mold, which is made from a real bluegill.  It is 3 1/2 inches I believe, something a tad larger would be nice.

Matt
