I decided to give the central delta a shot this time.  On the water at 6:00 with a slight breeze and high tide.  I heard that the stripers were starting to move again, but none of them wanted any spook action.  When the sun was up I traded the spook for a small swimbait and got to hunting largemouth.  I also cranked weed lines, cranked wood, cranked rocks, flipped jigs, and threw a spinnerbait for hours with no love.  Frustrated, I kept at it and managed to land the skunk saver, a nice 25" striper.  The only action from lmb was a hit on a swimbait.  It's kind of tough to figure out any sort of pattern right now, just keep throwing till you're sore!

Nice striper X!  That's a great sunrise shot as well.

Hang in there with the LMB, they gotta get start biting soon.

So you caught the striper on the spinnerbait?  Worked the weedline for him or was he out in the open?  Every time I go out to the Delta I get more confused.

The striper hit a mid diving crankbait that I was working on the weedline for largemouth.

The delta is very confusing.  LOTS of variables to make the fish react differently.  One day you're the man, the next you're skunkin' it.  The good days will outnumber the bad the more you keep at it though.

The sunrise pic was taken on one of the rivers on the San Joaquin side.

That was a bigger striper than I landed on Sat.! I was the fly fisherman in the Hobie. I landed two stripers, one smallish 1 lbs in the AM, a second one closer to 3 lbs. Both relatively close to shore - although I was marking fish in open water too. Others found it slow that day too. Both fish took a fly I tied off a post on Dan Blanton's board - he calls it a chart/white jig hook rabbit fur keel wtd. sea habit. I added a little red rabbit collar. It's been working at least a little the last couple weeks.
Hope to see you again! I'll be out there thru May.

Hey Bill, it was nice to run into another kayaker out there.  I hooked that one shortly after we crossed paths, on the return trip.  Slow summed it up for me, but I was happy to get some sort of action, your day sounded a little better!  My only LM hit came close to shore on the rocks as well.  See you out there sometime.

Niiiiice Striper for your efforts! :smt007
You put in alot of casts, cracks&flipps, but STILL had a lacking bite. That's not like the X we've gotten to know(&envy)...so it MUST have REALLY been a slow bite like you said!
Thanks for the port&pic!!
