Yesterday started out with a beautiful day heading out to Montezuma Slough.
I fished with vjo.dave, my new weekday fishing buddy. The launch was was
very busy already as we were paying for parking. As we head out, I was not
sure exactly where to fish so we paddled acrossed the other side and looked
for the wider part of the slough. We anchored for a little while and tried one
spot with no action. Way too many boat passing by so I decided to move around
deeper water. I found a 40ft drop and the place looked very fishy. Drop down my
anchor and fished the place for the remainder of the day. I used grass\ghost
combo for bait. Again tons of boat out there that day. Only had one bite which
is this little cute sturgeon here. On our way back to the launch, I saw a bank
fisherman walking back with a striper. Another person with stringer limit of stripers
that was probably trolling for bass. I want to try this place again and hopefully
with a bit more time. I had to leave earlier to pickup the kids from school. Thanks
again Dave for coming along. I appreciate the company.

nice going jedmo, sounds like a good way to spend the day, even if you had to keep moving around boats, and a small sturgeon to boot.

Strong work Jed. That's not such a small fish! I'd say it's very respectable!

Nice going jedmo. The water looks real good. We will be there on the 8th of March to fish theincoming and thru the top of the tide to dark. 1 rod set up for stripers and one for sturgeon. Maybe we will see you. I dont know exactly where we are launching yet I will let you know.

Good job Jed, at least you're getting out there and giving firsthand reports, and a sturgeon too.  With all the sturgeon being caught this year shakers, keepers, and oversize, seems like at least that fishery is doing OK.

Jed, I too enjoy our time on the water together. I question though, who is that old looking guy on my yak? It's sad that my jinx latched onto you. My hope was for me to rise to your level of success. I might as well of called a spade, a spade and used "hobie-skunk" as my handle. Has to be karma, the fish know I'm meat hungry. Why wouldn't they bite on catch-n-release yak fisher. No downside for a free thrill ride and photo opportunity. dave...
