Today was the perfect day to convert my old Boogie Board into an ab diving board.
VERY happy with the way it turned out.

Pic 1~ Made handles using my tried and true method only this time I used 1.5'' webbing instead of 1''. http://www.norcalkayakanglers.com/index.php/topic,7919.0.html
I made my own washers using 1'' aluminum stock since I could not find any stainless fender washers around here. I like the straight edge against the poly webbing rather than the rounded edge like a regular washer.

Pic 2~ I used 3''x1/4''  stainless steel screws inserting them from the bottom up. Secured them with SS nyloc nuts. Also made 2 holes through the board gluing pieces of pvc in the holes. I use these holes to run my shoulder straps through. The strap also doubles to hold my fins.

Pic 3~ I sewed poly webbing and velcro onto a small goodie bag to be able to secure it to the handles and also to be able to remove when I want. I also sewed a swivel eye bolt snap onto some webbing then sewed that onto the goodie bag to secure the top of the bag to the board and still be able to fully close the bag yet allowing me to remove the bag when I want.

Pic 4~ Made some adjustable shoulder straps that clip over the top and lace through the board helping to disperse the load on the board more evenly. I did not want anything dangling from the bottom of the board while I am OTW. The straps were made long so I can easily get my arm in and out of while wearing a wetsuit. There are also quick release clips for those times when I am plain wiped out.  :smt002

Pic 5~The final product loaded with all my ab diving gear.

One month and counting.

Tote, are you going to come down on opening weekend? I was at Costco yesterday in RP and saw moery boogie boards for 30 bucks. I almost bought one and made it into a dive float. Looks like more and more people are going this way. It looks great. If you are coming down let me know. If the ocean is good I will be out there at Horseshoe diving for abs and spearfishing for lings and blacks.
