I hustled home loaded up and got to the river around 5:00. I paddled up to the drift dropped anchor and started working the magic...well no magic tonight. Right about twenty minutes in I got nailed a couple times but nothing stuck. Right after that I watched a steelhead dance on top of the water, I swear it was bragging. Anyways it was good to get out before the next storm hits and I can't complain about being on the water.I am hitting the river again this weekend if anyone wants to join.  Here are some pictures.

The magic is actually working the drift, the drifts have many different depths and making sure your getting there. Having too much weight and your just sitting on the bottom looking unnatural while not enough your flying by on the top. Also covering the entire drift with different casts kind of like a fly fisherman does. See the picture below

Ya I put in at upper sunrise/red bridge and paddled up.Its easier that way, just drop and go with the new boat ramp. I might of had a better chance but I was only on the water about an hour before it got dark. This Sunday's time change can't come fast enough.

I am probably going to hit it Saturday morning but I'll see how my schedule pans out for going Sunday too.I might be able to swing that as well.

But as far as the anchor goes you just got to just do it. Mine works like a champ! Believe me you will use it all the time on the American  steelhead, striper, shad, salmon (if we get that back) etc.

The river has been looking really good the past couple of days. I'll be in the area for a couple of days next week. Thinking that I'm going to have to bring the yak up with me.

Go get'm
