Anyone of you NCKAers own one of these? I've had my eye on one of these for awhile. Hopefully with all this ot I'm working I can save enough bread for '09. Prices on these are still pretty high from what I've seen. Searched Craigslist and they go anywhere from $22k to $33k.

Another option is get a slightly used Sprinter van cargo van. Customize it into the ultimate Man Van. 2 yaks on top sitting on Hullivators, most def going to need the Hullivators for that high roof. Room on inside for your yak gear, surfboard, paddle board, kite surfing gear, fishing gear, camping gear, bed fridge, even a motorcycle.

Ariel,

Bob Neal also has a pimped Man Van (Astro Van) - he'll be joining us at the HMB Fish 'n Chill at the end of the month. I also know Fish Master is also working on one - from a cargo van.

Anyway, welcome to the Man-Van club :headbang:

Mooch

Looking forward to HMB. Can't wait to see the pimped out kayak delivery vehicles.

For the meantime Das Bronco will have to do.

Ariel,
I vote for the Vanagon but I'm biased!

My practical advice:
I don't know anything about the Vanagons -- my VW knowledge ends at the microbus era -- but I know there are Euro Vans with Westfalia packages, and I think they made Syncro models as well. For that kind of $ you should be able to find a nice Euro Van - front wheel drive & all around just more modern than the predecessors.

Mooch's Euro is an awesome Man Van! (even if Mooch spends most of his time indoors these days  :smt002 ).

Either way, if you go with the VW, do a little research on the Syncro system just to make sure they didn't have any specific issues. I haven't heard of any but I haven't been around that stuff either.

Now, the extra practical side of me says dump all the rest & get a Toyota p/u or SUV model, but it sounds like you're past that, so again, I vote for the Vanagon.
Catch & Repeat
