stealing from MOE, this was Mouth of Bolinas Lagoon.

I had a few hours to kill, so figured i'd try a theory out-- that the S side of the MOBL, would hold perch on the incoming tide. That little gap is a raging torrent on the incoming, and i always think that perch are basically like smallmouth. So...
...walked all the way the heck down there at the bottom of the tide, scoping the beach (structure is all flat now).

Once the tide turned it was pretty decent action- all good sized, no hub caps. Ended with 6. Saw two HUGE bat rays making their way into the lagoon, and what looked like a leopard.

Broke my new years resolution as i didn't take any pics

I'm thinking of doing the same Monday

I have fished that inlet/outlet. You are right the tide can come smokin' in. Next time you go at low tide look for fossilized sand dollars on the beach way up to the in/out. We have found many at low tide after a big storm. The San Andreas fault is right along the beach there and the winter storms throw up stuff that is way cool. I have two sand dollars that are fossilized and stuck together.

Steve youmake opportunities where there seem to be none. Some pics would really have been cool. When are you going again? I would like to try that.

That's been my go-to perch spot for a few years. It's also a good spot to land a legal leopard shark. We were thinking about heading out there on Monday as well, although as always work will probably get in the way.

Monday's a holiday for us yanks. Is 11 still the hour to meet Steve? Do you want to fish the Bolinas side of the inlet? Not so fat to walk. :smt002

yah know i was thinking of the bolinas side-- as there are those piliings from the houses "downstream"....but the stinson side has this beautiful little back-eddie.

Northern Boy- i've never fished bait in there before ,but fish perch at Stinson as my go-to beach.  I'll have to bring a heavier rod and some squid or something for those guys.  Do you fish right at the inlet? I see guys fishing up along Hwy1 all the time....

Yeah, right at the inlet. You have to time it with the current and/or bring spider sinkers.

What in hell is a spider sinker? Lets fish there on Monday. What time? Stinson side or Bolinas side?

Sinkers with wire "legs" sticking out to hold in current.
