I made a very last minute decision to go out to Alameda and try to catch some sharks and rays. We have a 10 year old friend of the family that wanted to go fishing so I thought I would run him out to the place where I have never been skunked. The wind was bad enough that we didn't go more than 100 yards from the mouth of the cove. It wasn't at the unsfe level it was just bad enough that I was concerend about paddling a Cobra triple against the wind back to the launch. Not a single bite.

It was 4 or 500 yards to the launch at the most but the triple with me, a kid and a 60 pound dog it felt like I was paddling the titanic. My Hobie Adventure would have been to the launch effortlessly.
Everybody dies, not everybody lives. What did you do today?

it felt like I was paddling the titanic.

You gotta love that feeling (when you survive  :smt002), and exposing the kid to the madness is a reward in itself.  Good job.   :smt001

Being an honorable sportsman is way more important than what you catch.

It takes more BALLS to "call it off" OR "change plan" due to unkind conditions.
You made the right call and kept it close :smt002
