The other end of Putah below the dam used to be a good place for trophy trout. They did some improvement, I think it was herbicide to kill underbrush which really hurt the fishery. :smt010(this was years ago) I don't know if it has come back. Last time I went fishing there, it was heavily littered and didn't look really safe to leave your car. I did shortline nymph a 18" rainbow tho. Maybe its better now....

I picked up some nice trout down below the dam back in college days - '87 - '91.  It seemed like somewhat of an un-tapped resource, but it had a weird, damaged feel to it too...  Once we tried to tube down from the dam and "ride the rapids" - that was a death trap of strainers and cold ass water.  DON'T ever do it.   :smt009
