I made some jigs out of lead heads and mountain bike tubes. I stretched the tube on after applying goop to hold it in place. I sliced up the tube, spray painted everything white and sharpied some eyes. This is on a 12 oz head and is 8.5 inches long. I sprayed the white on blotchy and it looks quite squidly. I'm not sure how important looks are in 100 feet of murky water but hopefully the lings and reds will love it.

Cool idea... looks like a Big Gitzit, and I know those work well.

I love homemade jigs and lures and have made a few, only some of which have produced well, though.  I need to make some more before summer.

You might want to consider adding a rattle.

I would definitely put something like Pro Cure or Smelly Jelly on it to cover up the rubber and paint smell.
Looks cool.

Looks nice, very clever!

I know FisHunter has one that he showed me at the San Mateo ISE - it is outstanding!  I'd share more but don't know if it's top secret.  I hope to be able to make something similar.

What do you think about storing them in a bag of frozen squid? Would that help with the odor?

couldn't hurt. I have also slid a piece of cotton or sponge down the hook and stuffed it up inside the tube then soaked it with sent. Just make sure its way up in there so the hook set will be OK
