I'll be fishing at the Cosumnes River Preserve starting at 8:00 am when the gates open, and probably staying all day. The launch is located just off of I-5 south of Sacramento, east of Antioch. Company is welcome!

If you haven't fished or paddled here before, you've missed a really pretty place. No powerboats are allowed on this section of the river and there is no shore access. In fact, because it is a river preserve there are only two places where you are allowed to get out of your boat other than the launch, and there is no shore fishing allowed.

Depending on the time of year there are salmon, stripers, catfish, smallies, and LMB present. I've never fished there at this time of year so I'm not sure what to expect, but I'll be targeting bass.

My wife and I will plan on picnicking at one of the shore spots for lunch. And if you or your significant other are birdwatchers, this place is amazing.

Here's a link to the site: http://www.cosumnes.org/ Click on the paddling section for more info about the area.
Yahoo! Maps will get you to the parking area, and the website has the address. There's a 200 yd paved walkway from the parking lot to the launch.

Hey Jay! Monday is the 19th. Or do you mean Tuesday the 20th? Sounds really interesting and wish I could join you and Teresa but I am already booked on Monday at OAP to try my Dino luck again. How about that backpacking trip at Point Reyes? A day trip for surf perch?

Oops! I have one of those weird calendars that start each week on Monday instead of Sunday. I fixed the date on the post. I'll be at OAP tomorrow to try for dinos, but my wife really wants to get her yak out of the garage and the Cosumnes is one of her favorite places so we'll be headed there Monday.

As far as backpacking, let's try to carve out a 3 day weekend in March/April for a two-nighter. PM me with your thoughts. Maybe once you and I work out sometime that is good for both of us we can post a hookup or NCKA backpacking event. I would even be down for a Sat/Sun one-nighter if that is all we can swing!

Wish I could join you Monday. The CRP is one of my favorite places to paddle.
Hope you do well.
