well went after that elusive dino again today. with the late rising tide got to sleep in a little today left the house around 8:30 and was on the water about 10:15. as i launched i saw alot of traffic towards rat rock so i headed north towards the middle of the flat, i do believe i saw a few kayaks over towards rat rock besides the touring club on their sunday morning paddle. tried to hail them on the radio but did not hear anything back so kept going. picked up alot of bait and more fish activity today on the f/f so i anchored up and took all the great advice i got from freddie, guitarzan and everyone else about baiting the shrimp and tossed out, again in the first few minutes i got two quick taps and i set the hook for nothing. reeled in only to find empty hooks, so i re-baited and tossed out again. after another ten minutes and a few fish on the f/f i got a nice solid hit and again nothing but empty hooks. after that i broke out the hook honer to make sure these new hooks were deffinately sharp and tossed out again. unfortunately thats about all the action for the day, which was good because i had to be off the water between 2:30 and 3 to get home for some honey-do chores. but it was a great sunny and calm day in the yak, cant beat that. as i was paddling in i believe i heared tote and steveS on the radio so tried to hail them again but to no avail, got to check the radio settings out. cameron

Cameron-

Sorry to hear that you weren't able to hook up again. At least I know that the fish weren't at CC today. Good intel though...

Tote-

Those guys drive me crazy. I try to whack'em every time I get'em. Might sound mean but I swear... If I let them crazy without being punished... they go straight back to my bait... Better luck next time... BTW... do you want some fish???  :smt002 I'll be back in Folsom Wed.

Have you ever fished those bullheads with a long double prong hook? Cut the horns off the side of the head and fish just like the sturgeon way with a sliding sinker. They will pick up the fish and swallow it ( while you wait with the line going slowly out). In 1984 I caught a 31 pound striper doing that by the novato airport. Soory i missed you guys today. When I woke up everything was caked with frozen mud after yesterdays exit at CC and I just went back to bed.

I was out there as well. What a difference two days make.  Friday we had only a single boat way off our bow. Today was a melee. I even had a guy anchor about 80 feet off my bow!

I thought hard about paddling up to the honeyhole, then decided against it.
i paddled out at about 12:30. was off the water at 4:15-- and just barely barely barely made the little rock spit/old boat launch at bullhead- with only about 20 feet of mud i could scoot across.

thought i heard someone other htan tote on the radio, but was pretty faint...

I got a starry flounder, mystery taps, a kingfish and a bullhead...

gonna see if i can swing a midweek trip in the warm weather....

My dad and I launched around the same time Tote and Chub did.  We were fishing towards rat rock from 10:00 till 2:30.  I didn't have my radio on me.

Tote -it was nice meeting you.

We  ended up with a few bullheads as well.

NCKA all over the place!  I love it.  Nice reporting and followup reporting, and way to create the introduction-hookups on the water.   :smt001
