Hello everyone,

My name is Eddie and I am new at kayak fishing. I saw the booth at the show in San Mateo and I was hooked! I was wondering if there was anyone in the San Jose area that would be willing to show me their gear. I would also appreciate if they could show what I need to get started and have fun. I've fished almost all my life, mostly ocean fishing. If anyone has an extra yak that would be willing to give a lesson that would be great also.

Thanks!

There are lots of guys here in the South Bay that I'm sure would also be willing to share information and show you gear.  I, for one, live in South San Jose and would gladly show you what I've got.  I'm by now means an expert as I'm still learning the ropes on the salty stuff, but I'll gladly tell you all I know (or what little I know). :smt009

I've also got an extra yak that we could take out, however it is off limits for the next month - a deal I had to make with the wife in order to acquire it. :smt012   Although I must admit, my second yak probably isn't the ideal ocean going vessel, but it will work.  It's a Hobie Outback.

Hi Ed:

I would book a trip with a local Guide. I booked a trip with "scallen".
Allen took me under his wing and shortly after my "Schooling" I caught
my first Halibut on Allens' "Old Blue". The trips are well worth the price.
Sean "GWK" also has some good Classes. Make sure to put Sean's Elk
Derby TBD list because, the fishing is Great and, so are the Peeps!
This site has a lot of usefully Intel but, you need to find the Nuggets! Most Kayak shops will let you Demo for free. Please try to shop at Vendors who help pay for this site.
