Got out for a few hours this morning in front of the storms. Launched at Granite Bay, trolled up the North Fork and back using plugs and dodger-grub rig. No hook-ups.  First time on Folsom - was hoping for trout. Any tips on this lake?  A calm, clear, warm morning on the water - felt like Spring rather than mid-December!

Thanks for the report, Bird, and way to get on the water in front of the storms.  I've heard that lake's a tough one to crack, fishing-wise.  I did see a topless jet-skier there in college though!   :smt003

Bird, there's ton's of small mouth bass along the dams. I use small spinner baits (slow retrieve) in the mornings and small crankbaits later in the afternoon when the wind picks up. Just position your kayak 10 to 15 feet off the rocky dam and cast to the lip of the shoreline. Find a good drift so you don't have to battle the wind when positioning for multiple casts.

Good luck!
