Went to Mendo at 0600 looking for topwater.  Saw one big bust early, but it was way off in the distance.  Nada for the rest of the day.  The lake is starting to smell, so its about to turn over.  This usually takes about 2-3 weeks, and then the fishing is WFO after turn over...timing couldn't be better for the tourney.

We decided to paddle way up the east branch in search of fresher water, and just because it sounded fun.  It was we paddled until the lake was a river, and then until it was a shallow and fast river.

Damn no-logging out kid...doh!  Anyways it looked neat.

Since they stock trout upstream, we fished for trout for awhile, but no takers.

We picked our way through rocks and gravel bars on the way out, nothing tricky, but totally fun.  Jellyfish had a blast.  Got real hot by 1100, off the water at 1200.

It is open to public fishing for about 6-10 miles above the lake, then it goes all the way to the end of Potter Valley where it comes out of a tunnel from the Eel River.
