Planning to go to a BBQ later today, so had to go out and get some FISH! Where better than my own backyard?
Launched (8am) from China Beach in SF and headed toward Seal Rock with my buddy Dan the Man. There were a couple boats in the area and the "Sole Man" a 6 pack charter. They were live bait fishing and looked like they were pulling up blues and blacks, but they looked small. What can I say ELK and BIG SUR spoiled me. In fact, I only had my BIG BAITS with me so while they were pulling a couple of fish here and there, I was there jiggin and feeling smaller fish attempt to inhale my Mega Baits.
Then BAM BAM, LingCOD ON! Oh yeah, I start whoopin, my rod bent over - giving quite a show. Oh, time to break out the gaff. The ling's head start thrashin against the yak, the lead head banging like a drum!
I gaff the beast and hoist up a 28" FAT LING! The guys on the charter were like - DAYAM!
I thought I heard one of the passengers say, "I gotta get me one of those"
What can I say, BIG BAITS = BIG FISH! I drift w/ the tide back to the lauch and pick up another one along the way. Got off the water by 10am.
It always feels good to show the PB guys how we yakkers ROLL.

Nice job guys!  I always wanted to hit Seal rock for Halibut but never got around to it.

We took a chance and just drove our trucks down there, dropped off the stuff and drove back and parked.
On the way back, the gardner "caught" me and asked if I should be "down there". Told him I'm just pickin up my yak and he said to be "quick".
It's the closest launch to Seal Rock, though kinda steep.
