There is a tournament at Ocean Cove on the 11th of October called the Randy Fry Open. You all may remember Randy as the person who lost his life while ab diving a few years ago. This tournament has a category for Free dive abalone, free dive spearfish, and largest fish caught shore angling. Sign in is at 7am and weighin is at 1pm. There are many prizes and raffle items. To view the complete agenda please go to Recreational Fishing Alliance and search for Randy Fry Open. Check out the pics from the old tourneys they are hot!

Sorry it has taken me so long to post but I have been busy here are some picks from the Randy Fry.  It turned out the weather was very nice and there was little swell.  My partner and I put our yaks in and went down the coast a little.  We found a school of Blacks and I got a couple of greenlings, missed a nice cab but had a great time. Met lots of nice people.  Tino and (Sabe?) his partner took first, Brian and I took second brandi and her partner took third for fish.  Aaron smith took 1st for largest ab.

Here are a couple more as you can see it was nice.  The vis where we were diving was about 10-12 feet not bad.  A lot of the kelp has broken off and it is tangled in big bunches on the surface.  All in all it was a great weekend.  The only down side was there was some jerk playing with fireworks just south of ocean cove and they set stillwater on fire and almost evacuated Ocean Cove. The fire department was able to contain the fire and it did not doo much damage.

Thanks for the followup report on that, fishSticker.  Sounds like a great time.  Glad to hear that my buddy Brandi placed.   :smt001

I've got the second weekend in October 2009 on my calendar.
The forecasts for 2008 were way worse conditions than encountered. I'm impressed at the quality of fish and Abs for the conditions that were encountered....You guys did great!

I see at least two NCKAers on the board.

I swiped some data from another site that I thought y'all would like to see:

1St Place Team Fish Tino Bernazzani and Eric Sabbe 77.11 points
2nd Place Team Fish Brian Ishida and Myrel Willeford 49.13
3rd Place Team Fish Easter and Hie 42.2

I could not read the Ab measurements on my photo well If this is not correct please post the true size.
1st Place Ab Aaron Smith and Dom Sabastiani Largest ab 9.56
2nd Place Ab Sears and Rynolds 9.32
3rd Place Ab Timmons and Joe F 9.14
