I'm planning to start carring my p13 on a "Congo" roof rack on my Jeep Wrangler..  This rack system adapta to Yakima accessories.  Quite often I'll be loading my P13 onto the roof by myself.....  I've read & heard that the OK hulls should not be loaded on to the "roller systems", that the hull will deform..  I usually load the boat in mid May & leave it there to mid Sept. In other words I plan to leave it on the roof rack when it's not on the water.

Any thoughts or experiences would be appreciated..

Any recomender loading techniques for a 5'9" guy?

Put it on upside down on a padded bar.  A loading bar can be a handy accessory, but a P-13 is so ez to manhandle I don't think you'd need one.

Heck, I'm 5'8" and I manhandle my Outback onto the top of my Toyota and it has a 2" lift, AND the Outback is a big fat pig.  I pack it upside down on padded bars and it rides fine.  The load bar is a nice addition if you want to spend the bucks (I did).  I'd be leery of leaving the yak on top of the truck for 4 months though, unless you don't drive much.  It ain't all that aerodynamic and gas is freakin pricey...

Please be sure to lock it down somehow!  I don't want to read later on, that someone stole it off your vehicle!

i loaded my t15 on my 4runner, just put the nose on the rear and use one hand to balance and pick up the back or the yak and slide it on some land shark mounts. easy as 1,2,3 but i still prob. looked goofy doing it  :smt044 james

I would also recommend hull side up. Get some water pipe insulating foam tubes at the Home Labrynth and use some electrical tape. I also use a motorcycle cable lock to lock it to the rack, fits perfectly through the scupper holes. Also might save a motorcyclist's life if a stap fails and it comes off! I would also recommend getting some small velcro straps like they make for computer cords or the lashing of the straps on your roof might drive you crazy. :smt013
