Launched into pretty good conditions, though I thought it would be flatter. A little breeze came up but never got bad. No sheep! Nice looking coast on the way there, absolutely stunning on the drive home. It was a nice weather day! Sunny and warm.
The fishing was okay. Maybe it could have been better if my ff was working. I fished blind. I also stuck to the shallows cuz I was hunting a cabbie. Lots of kelp, what's new?
This place has the cabs, the rosey kind. It also has big chinas, the black & yellow kind. I also hooked 2 legal lings in very shallow water. No blues at all.
I lost a lot of leadhead lures cuz I was fishing holes in the kelp.
It was my 1st time there. I didn't like the access to the water in that the wheels don't get you there all the way, some rock stairs to navigate, and more bowling balls on the beach. You also have to park away from where you leave your yak to start the trail. Two people and it's not bad at all, it's just not as easy for a single person.
Good news is I got my cabezon!
Fish on brothers!
If you don't know where you're headed, any road could get you there.

That is totally awesome Juan. I like that place because it's a really easy launch. Parking up the hill kinda sucks though. Glad to hear that you got your cabbie too. I was kinda hoping that you wouldn't but, I knew that it was only a matter of time for an experienced angler like yourself. I was hoping to get up there Sat... but, it already is Sat and I just got back from the bar... So, I'm done and ready for a long nap... Now, all you need to to hunt down that dino and you'll have your card filled... good going...

Sounds like a little challenge on the launch but otherwise a good place to fish.

Never been but need to try it--maybe next season since it's closing soon. I got lucky for my first Cabezon--just an inch over and in the kelp outside HMB a couple years back--wasn't even looking for one.

The launch really isn't that bad, I'm just spoiled by other launches.
I wish I was still there, it sounds flatter today.
I didn't keep anything and didn't take too many pics. I was busy in the act of fishing. By days end there was a pile of line clippings by my feet, lots of retying.
Pics include the mouth of the Russian, the cab, on the water, and the launch.
Freddie, I'd given up on this fish, didn't want to drive 5 hrs round trip for it. I had to practice what I preach... if you don't go, you don't know.

I agree with with you about the rocks at the beach. Much easier with 2 people for sure.
Nice job of filling that slot.

Nice report Juan and thanks for sharing some pictures. Stillwater is a very nice
place. I don't mine the long walk to park but, you definitely need another hand
to go down the rock stairs.
