Chub and I got a late start. The kid just couldn't wake up. I guess working until after midnight can do that to ya.
We finally made it to Belden's at Montezuma Slough and when I saw this sign I knew it was a good start.

We caught the last hour and a half of the incoming tide drifting live mudsuckers which took us east of the bridge.
During the slack tide we went west of the bridge to a few of my favorite haunts.
Anchored up and soaked sardines and ghost shrimp.
The weather was perfect. T-shirt and PFD was enough all day.
CHUB got checked by DFG while OTW. No probs since everything was in order.
The bite was non existent until about 5:30PM. Then it was WFO!
The MOSQUITO bite that is.
We never paddled and pedaled faster, got the gear loaded into the vehicle and kayaks tied down enough to get the hell outta there as we did this evening.
Everyone at the boat launch was hustling and swatting like there was no tomorrow.
I had to drive with all 4 windows down to get the mosquitos out of the vehicle.
We made it to the shopping center where we opened the rear hatch to let the rest of the mosquitos out then got everything properly squared away.
From now on Montys=mosquito repellant.
As far as fish are concerned we both got skunked!!!!  GOTCHA! :smt044 :smt044 :smt044

Nice pics!
I also got swarmed by skeeters last time out on the Delta in the evening. A slathering of cheapie Safeway brand sunscreen held them off til I paddled back in...

Mike at least the conditions were nice. The last time I hit Monty I practically surfed my way back to the launch on the wind waves...
Better than what I was doing  :busy
