Sorry for the late post.
Well, On Saturday, I finally got out and fished on my kayak for the first time at HMB. Launched at the beach near Mavericks and fished towards the green can. Caught some kingfish for ling bait but none to be had. Picked up the vermilion and the the motor boats started to crowd in. I paddled down towards the mouth of the harbor and caught a brown. Called it a day and enjoyed a nice paddle in.
For a first timer, I had great time. I can't wait to go out again.
FindThatFish, thanks for the invite to Bean Hollow for Saturday. I'll have to check to see if my work schedule will allow me. If I can, I'll let you know.
Tight lines,

Nice verm! That will make a nice dinner or two. How deep of water, what did it eat?

Good work!

Is HMB the same as Princeton Harbor?    Do you catch the fish inside or outside the harbor?    Are kingfish on the bottom or surface?

Another newbie here, still trying to figure out places.

I'm still trying to figure out how to post and reply on this site so please excuse me for the lack of knowledge.
I launched and fished outside the the harbor, at Mavericks just outside the radars and worked my way back towards the mouth of the harbor and into the harbor for easy entry back to shore. The depth ranged from 20'-40'. Vermilion was caught about 40' using a 7" blue and silver swimbait and the brown was caught at 20' using a 4'white scampi.
Kingfish were all over the place. I hooked one near the surface and I hooked several at the bottom as it was going down. I had them chasing my swimbait and the scampi but they bit the shrimpfly on the dropper loop. I was really looking forward to a ling and I've had success on party boats using kingfish. I'll definitely be out again at that location. I heard that it will be closed to fishing next year due to MLPA. Is it true?
I believe everyone calls it HMB but it's actually Pillar Point harbor.
For all those who replied to my post, big thanks. I'll post future outings and look forward to seeing your posts.

Tight lines,
