First trip to the Fort since the move from Bodega Bay to Davis.  Had to get up and out by 3:30, F*ck, that's early.  I used to complain about 5:30.  I hit Will's Bait and tackle for squid and some jigs and off to the Fort.  Meet up with Jim (Redyak) from Santa Rosa at the beach loaded up and found this contraption on the beach.  Head south to Allen's ling alley and it produced nicely.  Pick this guy up in the first 30 minutes.  Then meet up with Mike (something pacific? sorry can't remember) and Joe(bloodbath)  :smt006from Santa Cruz and headed south to Pidotti reef.  In the kelp I hooked into what I think was a nice cabazone, but he wrapped himself in the kelp and I broke off.  Tied up a curly tail and squid tentacles and dropped it back down and hookup again and he takes me into the kelp again.  Arghh!!! :smt013.  Took to the drift outside the kelps and hooked into many many blacks and had one more big take down that got off :smt010.  Had to ditch out a noon to get to work, but the weather was really nice, could have fished all day.  When I got back to the beach I met some folks fiddlin' with that contraption on the beach.  Turns out that it is an experiment wave energy generator.  I said to them..."Have you ever actually tried putting anything in the ocean before"  1' inch PVC is not going to cut it!  All in all another great midweek adventure on the water.

Nice report! ahhh yes the 3:30 in the morning trips to the coast..thats what time we usually leave from Sac for a early morning dive up to Mendo.  :smt064 Uhhh are you awake remember your driving.

When I got back to the beach I met some folks fiddlin' with that contraption on the beach.  Turns out that it is an experiment wave energy generator.  I said to them..."Have you ever actually tried putting anything in the ocean before"  1' inch PVC is not going to cut it!

Maybe those guys should of taken some notes from Vancouver-based Finavera Renewables, Inc,& PG&E I think they have a little bit better design. This is what they want to put in 2 1/2 miles off the coast of Humboldt.  The PVC design will last all of about 5 seconds even if it a prototype scaled version.

Nice report Jim Hey did the lab ever find their buoy?

Ya I did know that, the problem wasn't with the overall shell construction  but with the float section and that bilge pump couldn't get rid of the water fast enough. But the bright side is that we are one step closer to the future of harnessing the never endless power of wave energy or that Finavera was able to build on big A$# boat anchor.

Jim good fishing with you, bloodbath, and solsrf1. The wind picked up a little more after you left so you didn't miss anything in that respect. I tried unsuccessfully to find the famous f.u. buoy and ended up with a limit of blacks and one gopher. Last I saw bb & ss1 they had each picked off a nice red. Sorry for the late post.   jim/redyak
