Took the Fam out to Bodega Bay for some some Boggie Boarding. Still under the weather so Let The Fellas go Crazy and I'm watching 2 small PB'ers thru Binoculars, work the South 2/3 rds of Doran Beach drifting towards the Rocks approx 200 yrds out.

There using 3 ways, hard to tell if there using live bait or Popsicles, then one of them Hooks up...

" All Right, get to see some action... "  No Joke... Thresher shark about 7' long jumping like a Marlin....

These Guys on the Boat were all jacked up, and his Buddy is swinging the gaff like Freddie Krugger...

Yup, Total screw up and Shark takes a mean Dive and Gone.... :smt005

Just hope the Shark got away unscathed.... :smt009

Made my day.... :smt002  Now I'm really watching these Guys and they hooked up another 5 Hali's that I saw, maybe legal, and gaffing Them!!!!

I was far away, but they sure looked small to me.  Anyway it looks as though they were getting plenty of action.

Also spotted another Thresher away from the Boats doing what They do, Thrashing the Surface. This one was way Bigger/Thicker..., :smt007

I might get out there tomarrow afternoon, depends on if I don't Hack up a Lung tonight.

If ya do Go, launch from the Beach.  Low swell, out going tide and a on shore wind would make a paddle back to the Harbor from the south Doran Beach a Chore.

Sorry no pic's, just Giving info on Thresher's...

I know I Really want one,

A Truly Epic Fish To fight... :smt007

Thanks for the report Danglin. So far I've caught halibut and rock fish on my yak.
I wonder how it would be if I ever catch a thresher shark? Do I put a slight drag
on and let him run or just let him tow me around all over the place?

I've only caught one by dumb luck, but what a Ride!!!!  from my experience and from what I have heard and saw today, THEY GET AIRBORNE!!!!!

Goggle up Thresher shark and kayak, and you will come across some Kool vids from down south

http://www.splashvision.com/Video/10022_Part3of-3-Thresher-Sharks-240lbs-caught-on-kayak-by-jceviche.html

I've also heard that they are very fragile after a long fight and easily die, as seen in this vid towards the end of the fight...

so if your going for the release, ya have to fight it quick and probably going to have to work on the resus...

But, they Also Make great Yak Decor...

Wow! if I ever decide to keep a shark that big on my Outback, I would have to
remove the peddle and paddle back. That would be a lot of work for me trying
to paddle a cruise ship with a big load.
