Awesome fishing with Big Sur commando (kayakito, e2g, sc x factor) referred by Scott. It is a great crew! thank kayakito, e2g, sc x factor for the hookup.

We expected, but, missed "Sin Coast", "rustic andy" with perfect ocean condition left behind.

Fishing was great Sunday. We all had caught a load of fish. Each of us has lings and reds. "kayakito" had the hot stick and he was done with limit around 10AM. He had 2 lings too!

At one point, "kayakito" told everyone he had octopus coughed off a newly caught fish. Then, I quickly shot back, "I wanted it and gave it to me". He paddled over and looked at me with a question mark on his face, "do you eat it?"  :smt013

With this octopus I caught big reds, lings and oliver with almost every drop. In 1/2hr, I approached the limit. It made my day. Thanks, Ramon.  :smt006

Ocean was flat and no wind throughout day. By the time we were off water (~12:30pm), the condition looked still good. bites were open. Day like this made everyone happy.

The long drive & early getup are killing you, but they serve as test of your fishing desire.  :smt002

Uggghhhh....sounds like me and PJ were in the same boat. Rough night+slept in=I missed another epic Sur trip. [embarrassed and kicking myself] The 5 reds and 2 lings I found in Carmel made me feel a little bit better but would've much rather fished with you guys.

Thanks for the great report+pics guys!
PK

Yes you did miss the fest but we still have two more months to fish. All we need is a good day to go...

Ramon,

I see that you're still using your spinning gear.  The next time we fish together I'll bring a rod/reel with a conventional reel for you to try out.  It allows you to go with a light drag setting and then you can use your thumb to add additional friction/drag.

Funny that you asked Eric if he planned to eat the octopus...  Then again it might be a little more tender since its been prechewed and predigested.

Got to love it when it all goes right, great crew, fantastic conditions, and FISH!
Slowmo and I were out at Limekiln (3rd day in a row) and were very surprised when e2g hailed us on the radio, didn't realize the radio coverage was so strong and you could hear us over that distance. Fun to know that we all were on shared water all be it some distance apart. Sunday was by far the best of the three days we were down there.

Heck as well as Ramon was doing, I think I am going to break out my spinning gear!

That was cool to hear Rocketman and Slowmo on the radio, definitely adds to the community feel on the water.

yes, it is fun to hale NCKA on the VHF.  GB2 and I were once able to pick up ark from shore crystal clear even though we were 2-3 miles out.  Good stuff guys!

Gary,

I just buy one like a month ago but I did not like it, I don,t have a good touch
with my thumb, I guess, because I got a mess a few times so I said forget it :smt003 I spented more time untangling the line then fishing. Now I carrie it with me as a back up reel. But I appreciate your good intention. I remember back home when I was little I use to wrap the line to a glass beer bottle to go fishing  :smt001 and a sling shot in my back pocket to shot frogs.  :smt003
great memories.

looking forward to fish with you soon...get ready.

I would love to do it, let's watch the weather and keep in touch.
I just posted on our trip, had trouble with the photo so it's a little late.
