I took my '09 Revo out today for the maiden voyage.  I didn't catch anything but that wasn't a concern.  It was a great day on the water and now my mind is swimming with pimping option!

I have a FF on the left side forward of the mesh pocket.  I see a lot of Revo owners put a rod holder there with the FF coming out of the mesh well.  I ran across this "gun slinger" configuration and it looks intersting.

I like the option of pointing them straight back (leashed in tight) while in transit - particularly in rough water.  I also like the forward (hook setting) motion it would take to remove the rod after a strike.

I'm sure their are some counter points to this configuration.  What do you think?

I don't like the idea of mounting stuff in the mesh pockets because I keep stuff in my mesh pockets.
Everybody dies, not everybody lives. What did you do today?

Hey Sharkbyte,
I bought a couple of the RAM tubes and mounted them behind my seat on the flat spots on the left and right behind the seat back. I LOVE having them there. They are solid, out of the way when you want them out of the way, and right where you want em when fishing with em. Can't recommend it enough. I also made backing plates with cutting board pieces to really reinforce the mounting balls.

Great!  My order for Ram mounts and holders just came in...  I should be drilling holes soon.  Thanks for giving me some confidence in the location.

To make a real nice backplate I used pieces of cutting board and shaped them to custom fit into the triangles behind the seat back. I also use SS threaded inserts pressed into the plastic to screw the bolts into. They are solid! You could pick the boat up by them.
