Decided to stay local so I could meet my friends for lunch and be back home early to earn some WAF points.  The tides weren't good to make bait so I trolled around artificials and tried to see if Gulp would live up to it's promises.  I tried all the usual spots but didn't even get a scratched bait.  There were about 6 PBs around and I never did see any nets deployed or hear any chatter on the VHF.

I did meter some good bait balls and the water was FAC.  To pass the time I trolled to where bait was splashing on the surface but they didn't look like they were in an all out bait boil.

The local birds were out and a pelican landed right next to me and followed me around for a bit.  I could see gulls hanging out where the PBs were drifting with the tide.  Didn't have any fish to clean but it beats sitting at home all day watching football.

Sorry about the poor fishing, but thanks for the report.

It looks like you made a friend though?

The pelicans have been getting pretty bold. A few days ago, I had to slap the water with my paddle to keep one from grabbing a hook.

Yeah, Pelicans seem more aggressive than usual this year.  Seems odd with the lively bait action happening up and down the coast - maybe that's what's got them going...

Thanks for the report and cool photo.   :smt001
