I went fishing in Capitola yesterday. I noticed that summer is fading fast so i figure i should get some fishing in despite the cold foggy mornings. The sun came out about 1pm and the bite picked up a little. The water was really clean, probably 8 feet visibility. I don't have a fishfinder , so when the bait balls aren't obvious i don't fish live bait. There where signs of bait fish but i didn't catch any. I used sardinsickles in a bag half rotten falling off the hook. I was fishing for rockfish to stock my freezer for the winter and i really wanted a ling bad, i only caught one lingcod all summer. After about 2 hours fishing i had only 5 rockfish and only one put up a decent fight so i kept moving. I was down to my last half anchovie and threw it on the hook expecting some baby brown to hit finish off my last bait. I felt something and set the hook in a 26 inch ling. It put up a nice fight and almost got away. My friends and I turned it into fish tacos with mango salsa, very tasty.
I have pictures but i dont know how to post them.
OK I'm getting the hang of this now.

Have you guys read the How to add pictures to your post article.  See it in the frame on the left side of the screen.

I always fish the last piece of bait as hard as the first,  great story....
