Lake Mendocino 9-5

     Finished up a business meeting around one and headed to the lake. After getting a dozen "guppies" from the local  shop I ran into Mahi and Mendo Charlie and chatted with them awhile before hitting the lake. The lake was glass when I arrived but soon after my launch it turned into a blow torch....what's with me and the wind?
     Within ten minutes  I  landed a LM bass, then another, then a nice smallie......nothing over 16in. I moved on to the south coves for a few take downs and one really big fish on but did not stick. I toured the dam  and eastern shorelines   where lots of fish were witnessed but no hookups. After an hour or so I returned to the original scene and caught three more matching bass.
     Just about back to the ramp I spoke to a small PB'er who informed me he landed seven stripers just off the ......  While swapping stories my line drifted into my rudder and while freeing it my rod tip did a little jiggle ......seconds later I landed a little kitty......nice way to end the day. I haven't been on the lakes in months............the jet skiis and ski boat with their c"rap" music were really annoying, can't wait till both ramps are closed. Upon hitting the beach a truck with 22's and a huge sound system was blarrrrring more of the same  so I walked over and turned off the ignition. At one point almost tossed the keys in the lake, but thought better of it...my maturity scares me

I've only been to Mendo once. but the Rap music PBs  can be extremely annoying, hopefully at BAM IV all the ramps will be closed.  At least we'll out number them.

Excellent report with with Pic.....    keep it up.  I figure after seeing Juan's (Mako1) report you'll be headed for the Klamath in a couple of hours to be there by sunrise.

100+ degree weather plus the beginning of the weekend equals conditions not conducive to pleasant yaking. The mornings are okay though.
Allen, did you see a sign stating the impending closure of the south ramp? I heard there was.
BAM less than a month away.. I hope topwater turns on. It's been a while.

It was nice chatting with you yesterday Allen. I hope you were able to slip into the water and col down.

Juan.......The ramp was closed this morning for a triathlon from 6 to 9 am. It is open again. I have watched some bass chasing shad in the shallows at the launch in the mornings at around 8 to 9. I haven't heard much more about the striper bite.
