Saturday Morning we were in the parking lot of Van Damme about 6:15am (Mendohead where are you?) and waited for some daylight before the Old Man and I unloaded the Triple for some fishing and Abin.  The Swell at Arena was 11' and 8 seconds the and the wind was already gusting when we got on the water about 7:30am.  Fished in the bay and paddle about 3 coves north on the inside with no luck.  Large Grub and Shrimp Fly both squid tipped didn't do a thing.  Put away the rods and put on the fins for some Abs.  Plucked a 8.5" on my first dive and told myself that is enough for dinner so I'll just look for a Trophy.  We'll four or five dives later I plucked a Monster, but once I was back to the Yak it was only a Deep Dish just less than 9".

Then we Paddle back through the two tunnel, those things alway amaze me.  My 71 year old Dad was impressed with it being his first time there.  See Picture of Dad with two abs and some Uni in the Triple.

Sunday was a family day, if you haven't been to the Botanical Gardens on the Mendo Coast I highly recommend it.  See Pics.  At the end of the day on Sunday I posted a hook up with my iPhone for Monday AM.

Monday  - Dad and I hit the water about 7:00 am with the intention of circumnavigating the buoy and fishing southerly around the islands, but after the 3rd breaking wind wave over the Yak we turned around about 100 yard short of the buoy.  The bell on that Buoy sure was ringing.  Back fishing in the bay with no luck, but we did go through the tunnels again before hitting the beach.

Over all great weekend......... :smt001

James, I'm glad that you had a fine weekend. I thought about you guys up there and was hoping for the best for you. When you make plans to camp on the coast you just never know what you are going to get. Good for you for diversifying your trip and do other thigs that are fun and informative. We will get to Shell Beach one of these days. Craig

Sometimes you've just got to stop and smell the flowers.....

AbWoman said that AbChild needs to be AbDaugher and that she is so much cuter than the picture I posted so here is another one.

One other important detail of last weekend's trip.......We were down at the Kayak/Dive Shop in Noyo Harbor and I bought little Julia their last Barbie Rod/Real Combo.  I think my luck is about to change. :smt003
