The crew was Chucke, Duane, Frank and myself. Duane and I had pulled some smelt from the "ghetto live bait reciever", the night before. we headed out at around 7 to the same area we had fished the last few times. The morning pushing tide was tough on all of us. I think Chuck landed a Guitarfish. I was getting desperate and scratched all the way over to where some partyboats were working at the mouth of the Alameda channel. realizing that nothing was going on and prime time was about to start. I scratched back to Duanes halibut city area. Thus far i had not used any of my primo mondo smelt. I had just used the smaller ones, but upon arrival in the zone (within a coupla hundred yards of the green no3 channel marker pole) I pinned on one of my four bigguns and sent it down to find a welcoming committee ready and waiting. Thump, and up comes a possibly legal, but wait wheres my tape measure...oh yeah, back in the car. I paddle over to duane and he tells me its just short. Dam, one of my precious mondos down on a shaker. I paddle back over to the same spot, drop one in. Bam...this time it turns out to be 23. Lets try this again in the same spot. Bam...now i have a measured fish onboard at 23 and this one cooperates by being an inch bigger. well, now im satisfied and decide to head in, but when i cross the spot again i see good sign on the FF and i still have a mondo in hand, so Ill give it 5 more min. I only needed about 1min 30sec of that to go beno again. Keeping with tradition this one measures out an inch bigger than the last :smt044 :smt044. somewhere in there i farmed one that only looked 19ish. Frank got a nice 23 about an hour and a half before i started my 1,2,3, or was that 23, 24, 25? All my fish were on the outgo, just after slack. Duane should post porn later. Hot weather with little or no wind. as we were leaving Bungle arrived and headed out. Great day, great company :smt003 :smt003

I know some of us will hit it in the next few days, so heres a map to my sweet spot. All fish of mine (and i thin Ariel's too) came out of this spot on the north side of the channel(The channel is the 2 parallel lines i drew on the map) mostly on the edge, but some in, and some just into the shallows. The marker on the map is the green no 3 channel marker pole

Well done... Sharky and Frank.  Duane, thanks again for the live bait.

No keepers for me - got a couple hits, caught and released a dink hali and a surprise guitarfish just like the one in this photo I found.
