08/25/08 pb berkeley butt report

i was part of a charter on  RightHookSportfishing on monday.  we launched out of berkeley and fished with live anchovies out by f buoy all day.  the action was brisk early and late. 6 of us landed about 30 halibut, 13 were keepers, most of the keepers were 24" the biggest was maybe 28".
we saw a 17 foot boat out there, we all noticed it only had about a foot of draft.  the water got very rough, the wind chop probably reached 4 feet at times.  that little boat sunk, all five people were rescued by the Reelentless (another 6-pack boat). 
also, in the berths adjacent to the launch ramp, a large sailboat rear ended an old cruiser, i was startled when i heard the sound of cracking wood.
so go catch some halibut, but be careful out there!

That is some crazy shit going on out there! did they have PFD's on or did the other boat just wiat til it was a lost cause and transfer passengers before it went down?
