Welcome aboard 5-hundie-man,

I got the x-factor and love it. it's big stable, and has a great layout.
I'm over 300lbs and have no problem with stability.

Fish on,

Welcome: There are many quality kayaks out there that you should try. It's really about what is most comfortable for you to paddle and fish out of. Test paddle as many different makes as you can before pulling the trigger. One you should check out for sure is the OK  Trident 15. You'll get a lot of quality info from those on this board. Good luck and hope to see you on the water soon.

I am 5 11, 270 and love my trident 15.  Santacruz x factor is a tall guy and I know he loves his x factor, the full size one, so definitely look at that one for the tall factor

Hey 500Man,
You report you have some paddle time, is that paddle time in flat or surf? Do you like sportscars or trucks? You want to slice and dice or all-terrain?

Just Kidding - The X-Factor is a good boat (I bought one and am 6' & 260) the OK (Ocean Kayak)  rocks, too. Like the others said - try as many as you can to see what "fits" you. One may feel better for the type of conditions you will be encountering. Consider whether you will mostly be in bays and such or in surf .... that could make a difference in performance and comfort for you.

The seating and/or hatches of one model/brand may really suit you. Check with shops/dealers and see if you can demo different boats. Come to BAM, beg a paddle from a multitude of different equipment and decide from there?

Good luck, it is going to be fun!
