Delta Bass Report--Whiskey Slough

Got to Whiskey Slough Marina early and hooked up with pisciform (Aaron).  I started nailing some bass on the frog right off the bat.  They were not big (only 1 to 2.5 pounds), but they were really aggressive this morning; this one smashed Kermit's face inside out (pic 1).  After the topwater bite died down a bit, I threw a red crank along the weed edges and picked up several more, including a small 7 inch bluegill.  The big fish of the day was a 2 pound 14 ounce bass (pic 2) that hit the crankbait.

Pisciform had a tough day fighting the wind and current, but got this nice one pound crappie (pic 3) on a spinnerbait at the end of the day. 

All in all it was a fun day of fishing new water.  Aaron, it was nice to fish with you today.  Whiskey Slough looks like some great bass water.  The tide was low today, so I look forward to fishing it at high tide sometime soon.

Way to go get 'em on new water.  Last summer there were plenty of weeds along the bank and in the marina.  I was able to get into some fish further up the channel behind the islands.  But then it was tough when the wakeboard crowd showed up in the afternoon.  Was it the same for you guys?

The weeds were quite fishable all over, not too thick.  We fished up and around the first island and back.  Not too much trouble with the wake boarders, although we were off the water by 1 o'clock.

Quit picking on those Bass and Go teach those Mush Head Kids Something!!!!!

Awesome report.  Glad you got some on the frog this time.  I like the first picture with the caved in face.  I had the same thing happen on Saturday.   

Bringing the HobieBlue quality to a new hole - yep.  Nice work.   

A bit of a late reply because I crashed out as soon as I got home yesterday - felt like a long drive back to the city.

All worth it. Beautiful morning on Whiskey Slough.
Hobie was working the topwater bite nicely but his best fish of the day came later & nailed the dark red crankbait.

I didn't get any basses in the boat but had a spinnerbait slammed a couple times.
The crappie was too hungry to let the morsel get away, though. As you can see from the pic,
it was so huge I had to use a lip gripper to hold it up. 

The wakeboard/ski traffic wasn't too terribly heavy. Even when we got to the marina around 1pm, the parking lot wasn't even half full (or half empty if you prefer). Although, I guess they were launching a lot of boats from storage there, so it was good to get off the water before the afternoon madness.
